Identification Title Non indigenous species Abstract The data provided with the excel file “IT-MSFD-2018-D2-NIS” is relevant to the Descriptor 2 of the Marine Strategy Framework Directive and consists in a list of non indigenous species (NIS) found in the Italian marine waters after 2012; the species with cryptogenic and uncertain status are also indicated. The data was obtained through monitoring campaigns carried out between 2015 and 2017 in areas considered potential hotspots of introduction such as ports and aquaculture sites as well as in other locations along the coast. The former data is the one used for environmental evaluation of D2 in the reporting 2018. In all monitoring campaigns samples were collected from the water column (i.e. phytoplankton and mesozooplancton) and from the soft and hard bottoms (benthos). In addition, data from literature referred to non indigenous species recorded for the first time after 2012 in Italian marine waters is also reported.
