Identification
Sea Surface Turbidity (Kd490) by satellite observations
Sea Surface Turbidity, expressed by the diffuse attenuation coefficient at 490nm (Kd490), is mainly caused by the phytoplankton that prevents the penetration of light into the water column. Monthly mean Kd490, anomaly values in 2016 compared to Kd490 in 2015, anomaly values in 2016 compared to the multi-year climatology of Kd490 (1998-2016), trend and significance of Kd490 (2012-2016), are provided for the MSFD sub-regions of Western Mediterranean, Ionian Sea and Central Mediterranean, Adriatic Sea. The data source is the implementation of the MSFD monitoring program.
